When one of my best friends asked me to help her design her wedding I was SO excited. My dear friends Marina and Tazer got married in Connecticut last weekend at his childhood home, and I helped create the signage, stationary design, and consult on her already flawless vision.

If you know Marina, you know she’s loud, magnetic, and has impeccable style. She is always on trend and her wedding design reflected that. She wanted a color scheme of chartreuse and eggplant paired with her own hand-drawn illustrations.

Our first piece we made together was her invitation, which featured a collection of objects that reflected her wedding as well as symbols of their relationship.

I took her drawings, digitized them, and arranged everything to bring the vision to life. We were also able to use these design elements throughout her stationary package. This feature was so fun, it really went against the standard wedding templates most brides use and was very uniquely personal to them.

For the day of, we created several elements to help guide the guests through the experience.

When you walked in, you were met with a large sailboat painted to match her original sketches. I wish I could take credit for this but the bride and her very talented mother in law created painted it by hand! The boat was a piece from Tazer’s childhood, he named the dingy “follow” because it follows the sailboat. Very cute haha.

As you walked in you were guided to the seating chart and ceremony site, they hung our seating chart design from the trees on property, the design featured more of Marina’s hand drawn illustration ands typography from her invitations.

The florals were chic but playful, a perfect reflection of the bride. Her dress was the same, both classic and very her. It rained through her ceremony but they made the best of it and I think it added to the beautiful vibes.

I was very jealous of Tazer’s childhood home, the gardens and surrounding landscape was filled with beautiful flowers all in bloom. After the ceremony we made our way over to reception, enjoying an amazing spread and an open bar!

I designed the table numbers and menus, and helped her pick out name cards that we custom ordered from an artist on Etsy. Everything was meant to call back to her original invitation but feel a bit more elevated for the day of.

One of my favorite aspects was her specialty cocktails and the drag queen bartenders! I also helped design the cocktail menu incorporating more of the illustrations and brand details.

And that’s it! The night ended with quite a party! Congratulations, Marina and Tazer. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness. Thank you for letting me be a small part of it and help create a wedding uniquely yours.

SO MUCH LOVE- Jillian
